WELCOME AND NOTICES
THE GATHERING (rf Psalm 98 ~ The Message)
Let us sing to God a brand-new song. He’s made a world of wonders! He rolled up his sleeves, he set things right.
He showed the world what he could do. He remembered to love us. Shout your praises to God, everybody! Let loose and sing! Strike up the band! Round up an orchestra to play for God,
Add on a hundred-voice choir. Feature trumpets and big trombones, Fill the air with praises to the Lord God.
Let the sea and its fish give a round of applause, With everything living on earth joining in. Let ocean breakers call out, “Encore!”
And mountains harmonize the finale – A tribute to God when he comes, when he comes to set the earth right.
HYMN: For the Music of Creation (Tune: Austria WOV 577)
For the music of creation,
for the song your Spirit sings,
for your sound’s divine expression,
burst of joy in living things:
God, our God, the world’s composer,
hear us, echoes of your voice:
music is your art, your glory,
let the human heart rejoice!
Psalms and symphonies exalt you,
drum and trumpet, string and reed,
simple melodies acclaim you,
tunes that rise from deepest need,
hymns of longing and belonging,
carols from a cheerful throat,
lilt of lullaby and love song
catching heaven in a note.
All the voices of the ages
in transcendent chorus meet,
worship lifting up the senses,
hands that praise and dancing feet;
over discord and division
music speaks your joy and peace,
harmony of earth and heaven,
song of God that cannot cease! © Shirley Murray (AA)
OPENING PRAYERS & THE LORD’S PRAYER – SUNG
TIME WITH THE CHILDREN ~ Hilary Moore
SONG: Butterfly Song
If I were a butterfly,
I’d thank you, Lord, for giving me wings;
and if I were a robin in a tree,
I’d thank you, Lord, that I could sing;
and if I were a fish in the sea,
I’d wiggle my tail and I’d giggle with glee,
but I just thank you, God, for making me “me”.
For you gave me a heart and you gave me a smile,
you gave me Jesus and you made me your child,
and I just thank you, God, for making me “me”.
If I were an elephant,
I’d thank you, Lord, by raising my trunk;
and if I were a kangaroo,
you know I’d hop right up to you;
and if I were an octopus,
I’d thank you, Lord, for my fine looks,
but I just thank you, God, for making me “me”.
If I were a wiggly worm,
I’d thank you, Lord that I could squirm;
and if I were a crocodile,
I’d thank you, Lord, for my big smile;
and if I were a fuzzy-wuzzy bear,
I’d thank you, Lord, for my fuzzy-wuzzy hair,
but I just thank you, God, for making me “me.” ?Brian Howard (NJS)

A TIME OF QUIET
THE OFFERING
Creator God, we see your hand open wide to satisfy the need of every living creature. May we have thankful hearts, for all your loving care and kindness. Help us to be faithful stewards of the gifts you have given us, to care for the world around us, and to share your love with all people.
Bless these gifts we bring, in Jesus name. Amen.
HYMN: God of History – Recent, Ancient (Tune:Hyfrydol WOV148ii)
God of history – recent, ancient –
God of every yesterday,
still our God in this day’s moments,
where we go and where we stay:
You have set us in this context,
time, relationship, and place,
hear our praise and glad thanksgiving
for all signs of present grace.
You have called us from division
into unity and hope.
Each and all belong together
in the world’s kaleidoscope.
Help us listen to the voices
daring us to be and do
what you plan for church and people,
loving others, praising you.
How are we, then, called to answer
as we work and as we live,
called to justice, called to mission,
learning to receive and give?
Shall we build a bridge of promise?
Tear down walls that split, divide?
Fling wide doorways, open windows?
Let the spirit come inside?
God, you point us toward the future
where Christ leads and shows the way.
Here and now, work not yet finished
needs our strength and will today.
Thus we move into tomorrow,
called to live and work and be
reconcilers, pilgrim people,
called by Christ, by Christ set free. ? JP Huber (ASF)
WE GREET ONE ANOTHER & THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
HYMN: There’s a Spirit in the Air (Tune: Lauds)
There’s a Spirit in the air,
telling Christians everywhere:
“Praise the love that Christ revealed,
living, working in our world.”
Lose your shyness, find your tongue
tell the world what God has done:
God in Christ has come to stay.
Live tomorrow’s life today!
When believers break the bread,
when a hungry child is fed,
praise the love that Christ revealed,
living, working in our world.
Still the Spirit gives us light,
seeing wrong and setting right:
God in Christ has come to stay.
Live tomorrow’s life today!
When a stranger’s not alone,
where the homeless find a home,
praise the love that Christ revealed,
living, working in our world.
May the Spirit fill our praise,
guide our thoughts and change our ways.
God in Christ has come to stay,
live tomorrow’s life today! © Brian Wren (VU)
