We give thanks for the life of Alf Dowall who died on January 14^th. Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him. We pray for Anne and the family as they mourn. Alf’s funeral was held in Pleasant Point on 22^nd January.

Wednesday Walkers 31^st January: Meet 9.30am in Howard St near Barrington St for a walk around Spreydon. Coffee at Hodders’ 408B Barrington St. All welcome. Sonya 027 253 3397.

Recycling Changes: From 1 February, the Government is standardising what materials can be collected from households for recycling and organics across New Zealand. The only items able to be recycled will be plastic bottles, clear meat trays and containers number 1, 2 and 5, food and drink tins and cans, paper and cardboard, and glass bottles and jars. Christchurch residents will be able to put empty pizza boxes into the yellow recycling bin.

Tea bags, shredded paper, serviettes, paper towels and aerosol cans will need to go into the RED rubbish bin. All lids, soft plastics and drink cartons must continue to go in the red bin.

Tea and coffee provided. 9th December – ‘A Christmas Wish’ A heartwarming classic about a family who are down on their luck at Christmas time. Shortly before Christmas, they move into an apartment where Rupert the squirrel lives in the attic rafters and acts as the family’s guardian angel not only saving Christmas but changing their lives forever.

FRIDAY 8^th December Christmas Market at St Mark’s Church Opawa 5-7pm including a recital from a Ukrainian singing group at 6.15pm. All are welcome.
